WHO IS DONALD HINTON?
Donald Hinton is a real estate investor, author, and advocate for second chances, known for transforming his life after serving eight years in prison for gun and drug-related offenses. Upon his release, he embarked on a journey to rebuild his life through real estate investing, eventually owning 14 properties within three years.
Early Life and Incarceration:
During his incarceration, Hinton worked for UNICOR, a federal prison labor program, and operated a small store selling items like honey buns and sodas to fellow inmates. Through these ventures, he saved approximately $9,500. After his release, he utilized these savings to purchase his first property for $95,000 on a contract. This arrangement allowed him to make a down payment and pay the remaining balance over three years, during which he built his credit and eventually refinanced the property through a bank loan.
Career and Advocacy
Hinton authored the book From Prison to Properties, sharing his personal journey and insights into the real estate industry. He emphasizes the importance of education over money, stating that knowledge is a lasting asset that can help individuals rebuild their lives.
Beyond his book, Hinton offers an online course on Udemy titled From Prison to Properties, where he teaches the basics of real estate investing, including understanding cash flow, analyzing properties, and closing deals.
He also founded 2nd Chance LLC, a company dedicated to providing housing, jobs, and education to former inmates, aiming to guide others who have faced similar challenges.
